IBM plans to get deep into the water business

Summary:
IBM Corp. is starting a new line of water service which could be worth $20 billion in five years. Since he service’s main motif is to fight the water pollution and to manage the US water supplies, the company is persuading the government to improve the system that links from houses to the network in order to achieve the better insight.
The company also states that the new line of water service, which is a part of the theme called “Smart Planet”, will help water providers to oversees the problems like contaminated water or others, and therefore be able to resolve the problems faster. The project can even detect the floating debris and rid commercial fishermen from marine danger as well.

Personal response:
I think the project is very beneficial since it is a win-win situation, according to the statement made by IBM Corp. The company gets its benefits while houses get the more efficient water service. The SmartBay project also sounds quite advantageous for its various good points. If the service comes with reasonable price and truly aims for the better living of people, then the project is worth praising and supporting. Moreover, I find the SmartBay project shows a very creative idea to improve the environmental condition about pollution and natural instability of the world nowadays, especially the circumstance of water which is the important part of human lives. Finally, I have not yet found any disadvantages of the project to go against so far.
